Lacenas and the surrounding area<\/h2>\n

The village of Lacenas:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lacenas is a small village located in the Rh\u00f4ne department, in the Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes region. Its residents are known as Lac\u00e9niens and Lac\u00e9niennes. The commune covers an area of 3.4 km\u00b2 and had 938 inhabitants as of January 1, 2015. Surrounded by the villages of Cogny, Denic\u00e9, Jarnioux, Liergues, and Gleiz\u00e9, Lacenas lies 6 km northwest of Villefranche-sur-Sa\u00f4ne, the nearest major town. The village is also close to Lyon (35 km) and the Pilat Regional Natural Park. <\/p>\n

What to do in Lacenas<\/p>\n

Hiking<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The walking trail \u201cLe Tour des Pierres Dor\u00e9es en Beaujolais\u201d is marked in yellow and red.<\/p>\n

This route has been awarded the \u201cGrande Randonn\u00e9e de Pays\u201d label by the French Hiking Federation and follows the PDIPR network (Departmental Plan for Walking and Hiking Routes) for 92% of its length.<\/p>\n

History and Architecture<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Saint Paul Chapel<\/strong><\/p>\n

Built around the year 1100, Saint Paul Chapel<\/strong> is a fine example of early Romanesque architecture.<\/p>\n

The association \u201cEn longeant le Morgon\u201d opens the chapel to visitors on the first Saturday of each month, from March to October, at 3:00 pm sharp.<\/p>\n

Ch\u00e2teau du Sou<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Also worth visiting is Ch\u00e2teau du Sou,<\/a><\/b> dating back to the 13th century. Its gate has been listed as a Historic Monumentsince 1933.<\/p>\n

Near our village, you can also discover Ch\u00e2teau de Montmelas <\/a><\/strong>and the Chapel of Chevennes, dating from the 12th century.<\/p>\n

Lacenas is part of the \u201cPierres Dor\u00e9es\u201d area. As a suggestion, you may also want to visit the nearby village of Le Bois-d\u2019Oingt.<\/p>\n
